NYC with the Kiddos
NYC with the Kiddos
By Greg
There are a ton of awesome things to do when you visit New York with kids. Here are some of my favorite kid friendly spots that — for the most part — are also really enjoyable for parents. Organized north to south in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I admittedly don't know much about the Bronx, Queens, or Staten Island, but hey! It's my trip!

Greg This is one of the best cheap eats when you're stranded doing one of the "for the kids" activities in Midtown. Halal trucks are way more common (and delicious) than getting a hot dog or pretzel.

Greg It's always smart to limit your time in Midtown, but understand that it's hard to avoid entirely. When you need a spot to eat, Virgil's is a better than expected BBQ spot. Family friendly and usually not a long wait.

Greg This place is a Manhattan institution. Many will recommend and tell you the banana pudding is the thing to get. It is, for sure, but the blondies are also quite underrated. There are a bunch in the city and while this one isn't the original, it's close to other things you might visit.

Greg You'll like this better than the Empire State Building observation deck. You get great views of Central Park and downtown Manhattan, and it's in Rockefeller Center which is a nice place to walk around when it's not insanely crowded.

Greg This is the best donut shop in the city. It's an authentic, old-timey Polish bakery with non-trendy donuts that are just flat out better than anywhere else. If you don't want to wait in line, go to Mo's Doughnuts around the corner; it's basically the same thing just lesser known.

Greg this is arguably the best BBQ in the city. It's a giant warehouse like building in Red Hook, a harder to access neighborhood in Brooklyn, so you have to be intentional about coming here. If you're coming from Manhattan there is a ferry you can take from Wall Street. Otherwise cabs/bikes are your best option. Go on the early side of the day before things start to sell out.
