* firstly we were made to feel so bad for wanting to eat at the restaurant upon arrival and tried to say they were REALLY busy and wouldn’t stop emphasising this. A minute layer in the restaurant, we got seated and saw 2 tables of...2.... super busy right? * They didn’t approach us asking for drinks, I had to wait for someone to ask us about the food order before I said ‘where do we order drinks?’ * They waited until I was ready to order to say 3 things on the menu were not available. I then asked to change my order because I wasn’t happy with the sudden selection I’d made. I had requested a change in my choice 2 whole minutes after I placed the order. * When I then asked if I could have the vegetarian chilli she said ‘I’ll have to check’ I’m sat here 20 minutes later with her walking by or talking and laughing with her work colleagues and is YET to inform me if I can have my chosen dish so I’m very intrigued as to what will come to the table. * Not making assumptions but when your staff are sat collectively whispering behind their hands and thinking they’re discreetly pointing at our table is just unacceptable. It makes us feel extremely uncomfortable and is not how you portray a highly rated hotel. * Staff seem more attentive to their own colleagues eating food in a corner and sitting and giggling with them instead. * Multiple tables were served before us, without even an apology or explanation as to why. We wouldn’t have been so upset about this if someone had just had the courtesy to come across. * No sauces were offered to us, no salt and pepper. We looked at every other table who seemed to have been offered this. * I was served the wrong dip on my food, I was too hungry at this point to argue, we had been waiting 45 minutes for a salad and a poorly heated up chilli. * We had to ask someone for the desert menu after they cleared our plates and forgot about us for 15 minutes. As you can imagine, we were feeling more than unhappy about this experience before this point. * May I just add, the girl with shorter wavy hair was extremely lovely and what has been said in this message is completely excluding her. My main concern is the treatment we received from the lady with a lip piercing and ginger hair in a ponytail. * In conclusion, I will be feeding this back to DPD group accordingly. Who use this hotel on a regular basis, I think it is appalling you have people like this representing your hotel when they do not have basic communication skills nor do they uphold the reputation a Hilton Hotel has. Shockingly; there is no I can leave feedback on Recess Facebook page, which I assume is to hinder the fact their customer service approach is nothing but useless. Working in this environment for way over 7 years, I hope you take this feedback on board and relay this to the Recess ‘team’ as I would be saddened others have to go through this experience like I did.More

Came on a 50% off in January deal as had a good work Xmas do here. Waited for a few minutes to be acknowledged and seated. The squid wasn’t crispy, as the menu suggested, but limp and served with a cereal bowl of mayonnaise which...helped to disguise the terrible cooking. Ribeye was very charred, obscuring the natural flavour, and they didn’t have any mustard, but brought a pot of packets of ketchup which is unusual with a £25 steak. Overpriced, underlovedMore

The menu differs from that listed on line - the “real” one has a much wider choice! I had the chilli bean dish which was absolutely lovely, thoroughly enjoyed that. All the staff I interacted with were cheerful and pleasant - an excellent meal break...with the only downside being the grossly intrusive MuzakMore

I have reviewed this more fully under the hotel page as that's where we stayed however.... I would avoid. Vastly overpriced for what you get in quality and amount. Items listen on menu as gluten free are not actually gluten free. They then try and...charge extra to swap the items. Sadly, because of the link to the Hilton name this place gives you the impression of a quality establishment. It isn't. Go somewhere else, pay less, and get better food.More

Visited with a Groupon for afternoon tea. Our waitress was amazing really helped us with a problem we had and let us have the afternoon tea in the bar area when we asked. I can’t complement her more (I didn’t catch her name, but it...was 2pm on 31st May in case her manager is reading this) I would agree there could have been a couple more sandwiches but the quality was good, the scones very fresh and small cakes were great. Having unlimited tea and coffee was terrific as there was a wide selection for each or even hot chocolate. The decor and vibe was fantastic.I would definitely recommend a visitMore

The Hilton restaurant was nice and the waitress was lovely, she came out with a Happy Birthday fancy writing on a black slate board with a chocolate cake, it was a nice touch and good customer service. The cakes and the Prosecco drink was nice. What...the Hilton can improve on is the sandwiches, I put a request in regards to allergies. I was informed that they received my request and could not do this due to that is their menu. I'm giving it a four because of the waitress otherwise it would have been a three star. I was advised I was called, this was not the case as I did not leave a contact number.Hilton is a big reputable company and I would expect the Hilton to accommodate to the customers requirement, what if someone was Vegan, what would happen then. The sandwich choices are not good.I had afternoon tea at Marco Pierre and sandwiches choices were catered for. Apart from this it's a nice venue and the waitress was nice and the cakes, they just need to accommodate for the customers as this can make customers not want to come back.More

This restaurant serves the Hilton Garden Inn hotel and it’s clear the staff aren’t used to serving non-hotel guests. Service was unbearably slow, the food took a long time to come and while we did clear our plates, the food was akin to that which...you might expect at a pub or bar.More
