over regimented, was better when you could just drive up there yourself, and not get involved in the time wasting expensive paraphanalia. crystal creek cairns is much friendlier.

I went on the tour with the local people – Kuku Yalanji while my husband headed straight to the watering hole- the gorge. My tour was fantastic. I had Mooks as my guide and he was fantastic. Gentle, informative, a real expert who had worked here for 20 odd years. He had grown up in the area and he knew all there was to know about the use of the plants in traditional medicines, bush food, use as toiletries, use of the bark and sap for all sorts of things and the ones that can literally kill you or make you very ill. And they look all the same to a novice like myself. I was the only one on the tour so it was such a great experience having a personal guide. We had a great cuppa- the bush tea was yummy and damper accompanied my tea to top it off. Afterwards he dropped me at the watering hole. It was fantastic to then have a cold swim in crystal clear cold water stream on such a hot day. We then got the bus back. The bus there and back was $11.80 return. My tour was $78 but I got lucky that day and there was a sale on. The $78 covers the bus ride back also.

My friend and I had a very enjoyable and interesting tour with Richard. He was very genuine and passionate about his traditions and culture. It was an enjoyable tour through the forest that isn’t accessible otherwise! The dampers were amazing!

To Mr Lightning. Thank you. This is a nascent upcoming beauty of a walk. The guide was so passionate about his heritage and his country and the pride he has was evident. He chatted alot and explained to us poor old Mingaloo about his ancestors and tried to convey to us the rainforest and what it means as a place as well as the stories passed down in oral traditions. There is a lit of wisdom collected there. Perhaps there can also be a concerted effort to assist the people to rid the forest of feral pigs which are damaging to the ecosystem and the natural harmony of the place. There are not enough characters in this review space to do justice to this, just do it and go. Beware your perspective might change though and that's a good thing. The young fella we had, Kienan (?) was amazingly good. Worth it.
