Booked the train to Stanthorpe and wine tour and train left on time at 8am for the 2 hour 15 mins journey through some nice countryside. Unfortunately we had diesel not steam because the brakes weren’t working on C17. It has been absent for some time because of the lack of water but should be ready for the next trip. The wine tour took us to Ballandean wineries plus 2 others and a really good lunch before returning right on time at 6pm. Well done all the volunteers who made this an enjoyable trip. I would recommend this as a great day out.

If like us you are travelling from afar and spending up big for a very special day aboard a "steam" train, be prepared for disappointment from the outset followed by a very long yawn of a day. As warned, they reserve the right "not" to provide a steam engine for various reasons. This right is usually fair enough, however, they can't provide the service as advertised in drought due to no water, nor in the hotter months due to total fire bans. In such numerous circumstances they know well in advance when steam will not be available but happily continue selling high priced tickets for such a service. Being a friendly conscientious volunteer outfit does not excuse them from blatant misrepresentation.

My family and I travelled on the train from Warwick to Stanthorpe recently, as part of the winery tour package. We all had such a wonderful day; not only was the train ride such a unique experience, but the whole day is well planned, all the volunteers on the train are super friendly, helpful and well-informed of the local area, and the winery tour (which included a delicious lunch) was a real highlight too. The whole package is great value for money, and I recommend to anyone looking for a unique experience in south east Queensland.

My husband and I were given the Warwick to Warrangarra return trip as a Christmas present from our children, we had a wonderful day chugging through the Queensland bush. We saw kangaroos bounding across paddocks and waved to countless people along the way. Make sure you stay overnight in Warwick as it is a long drive to Warwick and it is an all day train ride. Well worth it.

A pleasant day out on a Heritage train from Warwick to Wallangara and return. Travelling in a 100 year old carriage is quite differe4nt to a modern train. Because of fire restrictions the train was puued by a heritage diesel locomotive. This group run t6his trip most months and it is well worth the journey through some fairly wild country.
