We had two sailaway cruises during our 4 night girls trip. The first was a sunset cruise which was delightful. The staff were so friendly and made it such a great trip. The second was a trip to the Low Isles. We were lucky to have amazing weather which obviously helps. Louisa was the deckhand and is also a marine biologist and took us out on a snorkelling tour which was great as we learned and saw a lot which we wouldn’t have on our own. The option of wetsuits was also fantastic as I usually get very cold when out in the water for a long time but this helped so much! The tour of the island was great and informative. The staff really made these trips as they were so accommodating and helpful. The boat is lovely and clean with great facilities and it’s nice that there’s not too many people who can go on so you feel like it’s more personal, unlike the really big ones. …

I'm a travel agent from the Gold Coast that wanted to find a family owned and operated, Eco Tourism operator on the Great Barrier Reef. I found Sailaway Reef and Island Tours and WOW, that is the only way to describe the day we experienced. It all started boarding the beautiful yacht "Sailaway VI" that was mostly powered by wind which is the perfect way to get to the Great Barrier Reef. With only 30 guests on board and so luxurious I felt like I was on a private yacht. We enjoyed a full day, snorkelling over the magnificent coral gardens around the Low Isles with marine biologists, a guided tour of the island learning all the history and jumped on board the glass bottom boat. The afternoon was spent enjoying a delicious lunch which included fresh prawns, jumping in off the back platform and snorkelling from the boat. With a cold beverage in my hand sailing back to Port Douglas was the perfect ending. I booked the Low Isles as I was travelling with young children that hadn't snorkelled much in the past. Next I'll be taking them to the Mackay and Undine Coral Cays, and if I'm lucky enough I'd just slip away with my husband and jump on the Sunset Cruise. Either way, you couldn't go wrong with what trip you were fortunate to experience.…

Exceptional day with Sailaway with our family of four . Mackay Cay is a must to do destination with Sailaway Cruises . Crew were very friendly and they whole day ran like clockwork . From the moment we stepped aboard , catering from morning tea to lunch and to afternoon tea as we sailed home was delicious . Cannot rate the destination and quality of the reef at Mackay Cay more . Thanks for a great and memorable day to the Outer Reef .…

Crew were friendly & helpful. Highlight was definitely snorkeling with turtles, sharks, giant clams & loads of fish. Kids loved jumping of the side of the boat at the end of the day. Large cat so never felt too crowded. Only disappointment was that we didn't really get to truly sail as engine going (while sails up) - but understandable given distance to be covered & not much wind. …

Awesome day. Cannot rate this experience highly enough. So we thought we were doing this on day X but we were booked for day Y. The company phoned us with enough time that we were able to make the cruise for the day that was booked. Thank you. This is a great day out. So nice not to be cramped onto a boat with 50 or more other people. We used the motor to go out to the island but sailed back. So peaceful. Whether you sail or not would depend on the wind. Our time on the island was devided between snorkeling and a tour. But you did not have to do the tour and the snorkeling was around an hour. We also snorkeled off the boat after a very pleasant lunch on the boat. I preferred the after lunch snorkel as the water was clearer and the coral/fish better. We had visibility to 8m. The sail back topped off a truely wonderful day with a small group of people and very highly skilled and entertaining crew. I would recommend this for all age groups as it was not rushed, the boat is spacious and the crew is able to differentiate ability levels.…
