Bush and rainforest walks, no formal gardens. Elevated walkways not really suitable for wheelchairs but then we found you could get free motorised scooters from the information centre. Vert thankful fir that. Nice cafe.

Myself and my partner are avid visitors of Botanical Gardens - we enjoy seeing both natives and exotics with a view for inspiration not only for our garden but as professional designers too. On this occasion we were rather disappointed with the quality and lack of inspiration the gardens provided when compared to other Botanical Gardens around Australia. Yes, great to see Australian Natives and be able to compare Banksias side by side but would be useful to have areas to inspire native gardens at home, particularly as this is the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Also I was particularly looking forward to seeing the 'red centre' garden, however this turned out to be somewhat run down and lacked a wow factor. Parking isn't free which makes people less likely to pop in for a quick look around to just pop in for a quick look around. Cafe closed at 14.30 so could get a coffee or food (We arrived at 14.33 - nightmare).

The restaurant is simple and there is a menu, but there is also an extensive menu written up every day on the board as specials. The atmosphere is relaxed and just what you'd expect at a botanic Gardens. But the food is wholesome and good. My wife and I were visiting Australia from Los Angeles and had come to see my sister on this occasion. Following a late morning leisurely stroll around the gardens, we ended up in the restaurant. My sister chose the roast pumpkin salad special, and my wife and I had variants on the veggie patch salad. The menu has chicken, pork, beef, salmon and a couple of salads as well as fish and chips, but there are plenty of extra choices on the menu up on the board day’s special menu up on the board. Once you've decided what to eat, you go up to the counter to give your order, which they bring brand to your table a little later. The quality of the menu and food were great and much better than many places that are part of this kind of institution. We can recommend a visit to the restaurant if you go to the botanic Gardens.

Not here! The battery cart was cheerfully explained and very maneuverable. Freely available, it was ideal for getting around along the well-signposted paths. Made our day!

This location is quite stunning and the flora and animals are unique. There are dirt paths that can be uneven but some paved walking places. You can get a good feel for several of the Australian climates with their plants. We saw butteries, heard frogs and enjoyed several different birds. There are some nice buildings with exhibits and a lovely shop as well.
