Gigantesque, well carved and breath taking, this monument will blow you away! It has the flame of the unknown soldier underneath and for a small tarif you can go all the way up to see why it’s called “place de l’étoile”

There are three in Paris. Yes , they look interesting but not so special for me. They are one of the most famous attraction in Paris but... You can climb up.

The Arc De Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The location of the arc and the plaza is shared between three arrondissements, 16th (south and west), 17th (north), and 8th (east). The Arc honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and lists the names of all French victories and generals which are inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WWI. Its architecture is magnificent and awe inspiring! It is located on a very busy circle with cars, bikes, buses, and pedestrians all around. There is a lift to take you to a small museum almost at the top- but its about another 40 steps to get to the terrasse, where there are wonderful panoramic views of Paris! Don’t miss it!

Worth a visit for sure, a gargantuan monument in the centre of an equally impressive round about. Try it out on your city bike for a little thrill.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most recognisable landmarks anywhere. It is a stunning monument. It was constructed at the start of the 19th century and it honours those who sacrificed their lives during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars. It is the French Tomb to the Unknown Soldier. It is a sacred site. There is an eternal flame at the base of the monument. On its walls are inscribed figures and names of people regarded as French heroes. It also forms a huge, but convenient traffic roundabout at one of the busiest intersections of Paris. You can climb to the top for a price to get better views if you wish.
