Spent a few hours here on Saturday. Firstly, it wasn’t expensive, only €15 per adult for the Virtual Reality tour and a self guided tour. From The time we entered the jail, we had the best time. The staff there were brilliant, very patient and very informative. The VR tour was FANTASTIC. 20 minutes in a cell with a VR headset on learning about the history and the characters that were incarcerated there. On the self guided tour, you could go and see everything the jail was about, from the tome it was built until the time it finally closed. I loved the fact that authentic shackles were still on the walls and you could see how criminals were chained to the walls. The self guided tour takes about an hour, if you take everything in. I would absolutely recommend this as a day out activity. There’s a cafe on site, The Jailers Rest and the food was AMAZING too Such a great day 10/10 guys, well worth the money and the drive

Would highly recommend this tour. The VR at the start is amazing and such a novel and fun way to tell the stories behind the gaol. Then the walk around tour itself is so good ??, really great displays and interactive. We really enjoyed the day and would go again

The VR Tour is definitely worth it! I’d love to have seen myself while doing it!! A great experience & funny to feel so immersed in history! Well done!!! The rest of the tour was fantastic too. The VR helped piece a few bits together & the automatic speakers that come on in each cell means no tour guide is required! In one cell there was a rotten foul smell. (I won’t say which one) It was so overpowering it was making me nauseous so we didn’t stay long in it & I didn’t complain because nobody else seemed to notice BUT THEN we read at the end that the smell in that cell is linked to paranormal activity!!! Spooky! Definitely coming back at night! Very well socially distanced as each group took their own time in each cell & it was respected by each visitor! Lastly the lady who brought us to our cell for the VR was soooo friendly!
