Great boat trip, (check the weather before heading out to the boat). Enjoy, the scenery is fantastic, one of my top ten favorite things to do in Ireland ????

We booked a land tour with Skellig Force Awakens with owner/operator Brendan and David Walsh. They are a father and son team that were just AMAZING!! They put safety above all else and were very knowledgeable about the island and wildlife. Brendan took his time with the tour and after out land portion he took us around little Skellig Michael as well, most other tours do one or the other. David was in constant contact with updates, directions or any questions I had. I would highly recommend Skellig Force Awakens!! You must book in advance, sometimes months to secure a spot. Only 100 people a day can visit the island. The small boats that charter can only take 12 passengers out once a day. It also depends on the weather if you can take the trip. This phenomenal place was such an honor to visit!! There are guides at the bottom before you climb to give you safety tips. It is a VERY harrowing climb up uneven stone steps with no guard rail, coming down was much more difficult! I watched a utube video of the climb first to gage if this was something we could do. Once at the top, you can explore on your own and there are guides to explain the incredible history of this beautiful place. I was amazed at how secluded these monks were and many of them waited years for the chance be worship and live on the island. If you have the opportunity to visit Skillig Michael Island I hope you will take it!! I would love to experience this magical place again!!

Make sure you book well in advance - landing season starts in May and ends in September/October depending on the weather. For planning, dont plan any other activities for the same day. There will likely be delays getting out in the morning and the whole experience will still take 5 hrs. Do a landing tour if you can, eco tour or observation tour just brings you on the boat ride out there. Hiking to the top is steep and there are some straight down look outs if heights make you nervous. There are guides that spend the night on the island that can help you make it to the top and get back down if the heights bother you. There is always a guide stationed at the top that will give you a history lesson of the island which is pretty interesting. All boat rides are subject to the weather. If its windy or rainy, you wont be able to go - trust be, you do not want to be on the choppy waves. Even on a normal day it will be windy so taking something for motion sickness if you are at all sensitive is advised.

Such a beautiful view. We couldn't go ONTO the island of course, but the coastal view was amazing! The gift shop had so many neat things for Star Wards fans!

It was too rough to go all the way out, but we had a wonderful time. Paul took us out on Sundance. Well informed and our ride to say the least was exciting, thrilling. Would love to go back and do the whole tour. Hopefully some day in the future.
