We visited Great Blasket Island on a sunny day with calm seas. We took the guided walking tour and learned a little history of the island and it’s former residents. There were a large group of seals on the beach and plenty of sheep and even donkeys nearby. The views from everywhere were spectacular.

We hadn’t intended to visit the Blasket Island Visitors Center but we got lost trying to find the Dunquin Pier. It didn’t matter in the end though as we really enjoyed our visit and that’s saying something as a person who generally isn’t into “that sort of thing “. The center is clean, interesting and has quite a few amenities.

Beautiful island with a lot of history. Includes a guided tour if required, about 45 minutes long, very knowledgeable guide. A lot of ruins, but one cottage has been done up to view. Small cafe and toilets. Beautiful beach , which has a seal colony of around 2000 . I was lucky enough to see about 200 lying on the beach. Short 20 min ferry ride out to the island.
