Words can't express how amazing this place is. We booked for our first year anniversary and we were not disappointed. The views are breathtaking, accommodation spotless and best of all pet friendly. The best part no TV or WiFi, sit back and enjoy the views. Complete bliss, can't wait to return.

The drive from Portsalon to Fanad Head is spectacular with highlight being the views across Ballymastocker Bay. The lighthouse at Fanad Head was actually close when I arrived (7pm) so I only got to look around outside. However it was still a beautiful place to visit. Must return for a tour of the inside of lighthouse some day

After leaving our B&B and continuing our exploring we saw a lighthouse in the distance and followed the roads to get to it and we were were not disappointed. Fanad Head lighthouse is in a very scenic location on the North coast of Donegal. It's high up on a cliff jutting out into the water. It was built around 1816. There is a visitors centre and coffee shop as well as a hotel. You can go on a guided tours of the working lighthouse and you can also climb to the top of the tower. You can even book a stay in the original light keepers cottages which would be interesting and a little piece of history. The day we were there, we spoke to a fellow who was taking his drone for a test run as he was filming a wedding to take place later that day. He showed us the footage, spectacular!
