Tokyos well known fish market - Tsukiji - is well worth a visit! It is probably one of my top 10 experiences during my travels. The market is so authentic, so real, so fresh and delicate and the mixing of all fresh smells and the locals selling their fresh seaproducts is simply just so amazing to experience. Make sure to get here early in the morning and try fresh oysters and fresh sushi straight from the mornings catch. I can highly recommend a visit to the Tsukiji Fish market.

Tsukiji Saito’s Fish Market is one of the must-visit places when tourists visit Tokyo, especially for seafood lovers. The market is lively and crowded from early morning since everyone tries to get the freshest sushi & sashimi or ingredients. One of my Japanese friends told me some chefs from famous restaurants would also purchase their ingredients from Tsukiji Saito’s Fish Market. There are lots of interesting and trendy street food, traditional Japanese, fusion style of western food...etc. The food is not guaranteed to be good and make sure to check the reviews before you give it a try. The stands with lines, for us were not the best one. Our favorite was the food truck of grilled tuna steak by the entrance. The boss was cool & awesome and he grilled the tuna steak right with a flame spray tool after our order, which is like seeing a performance.

Due to jet lag I had woken up early, so decided to head to Tsukiji market which wasn’t initially on my list but so glad I headed over. The small lanes were fascinating and the small alleys in between with the sushi bars I don’t think I could have decided where to go if I where stopping to have sushi there! Ended up having a Wagu beef kebab there as well which was delicious before leaving. A great way to spend a few hours and a stones throw from the main fish market as well.
