Like many others said, the name "cat" street might be misleading of what the street consists of. There are many cute boutique stores and snacks, but no cats in sight.

Quiet shopping side street from the main Harajuku or Takeshita street. Lots of good shopping and cafes. Also nice to stroll along.

Our guide explained the origins of the name cat street. It was named in honour of cat walks, where models sashay up and down in their finery looking into the very elegant shops that align there. I saw no fashionista models, but the shops and eateries were nice. It's a relatively quiet street; a lovely reprieve from the other busy areas of Harajuku and Shibuya.

Originally got the idea to visit this place from a guy I follow on YouTube that lives in Japan. Enjoyed the shops but I truly enjoyed taking the side streets. Really beautiful area and you'll find interesting small restaurants and shops off the main path.
